The IB / proWOOD project team will participate in the "Woodtech Africa" trade fair https://woodtechafrica.com/ in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. The fair on wood processing will take place from 26-28 October 2023. There, we will present our current project from Rwanda, which aims at the education and training of wood craftsmen and women and the promotion of MSMEs.

Since November 2021, the project "proWOOD - Promoting Competence in Wood Technology" has been implemented. It is funded by the BMZ through sequa gGmbH as part of the special initiative " "Decent Work for a Just Transition". The goal is a modern cluster of wood processing companies that contributes to employment promotion, inclusion, growth and climate protection. Central solution approaches are digitalization and technology transfer in the areas of wood crafts, further education and wood industry promotion.

At the fair, we will present our experiences with our project in Rwanda together with Rwandan representatives of the timber industry. In addition, an exchange with other actors from East Africa is to be facilitated in order to achieve better regional networking.

The SDGs that are affected here would be: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
