What does the EU stand for, what are its responsibilities and its values? Our network partner, the YES Forum, promotes cooperation between governmental and non-governmental actors in youth social work in Europe. It sees a necessity to explain the role and objectives of the EU in a language that young people can understand and thus launched a campaign in December 2023. The Internationaler Bund (IB) believes that all citizens, especially young people, should understand the European Union and supports the campaign of the YES Forum.

More than half of young people who responded to the European Parliament’s ‘Youth Survey’ in 2021 said that they “don’t understand much or anything about the EU”.

By helping young people understand what the Union is and what it stands for, knowledge of their rights and opportunities will grow. When young people understand the value of the Union, they will be compelled to contribute to and to advocate for a social and fair Europe, where all voices are being heard.

The YES Forum aims to raise awareness about inclusive communication in view of the upcoming European elections, among policymakers, European institutions and youth. To this end it has launched a new campaign, #explainEU campaign.

The Internationaler Bund (IB) is very happy to support this campaign!
