The IB wins new EU Project "Women’s Shelters for Combating Domestic Violence"

The new project in Turkey started in January 2014.


Women's Shelters Project

Together with its partners, the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Educational Consultancy Service (EDUSER) and the Hacettepe University Reasearch and Implementation Centre, the Internationaler Bund (IB) won the EuropeAid project "'Women’s Shelters for Combating Domestic Violence" in Turkey with a volume of EUR 6,601,000.

The purpose of the project is to protect women against violence in 24 different cities through establishing and/or providing support services. Services such as counselling centres and stations as pre-shelter and post-shelterservices for women subjected to violence that are complementary parts of the protection mechanism shouldbe established to support women subject to violence. The project will be important for the development ofexpansive and local services as a follow-up of the 2006 'Shelters for women subject to violence' project (PANFA2006). Within the scope of this contract, which should be considered as the 2nd phase, various managementstructures of 8 shelters built under the 1st phase will be developed, and the local bodies will be supported technically to raise their capacity to establish and manage these services.
