The IB wins EU Project "Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs"

The new project in Uzbekistan will start in the first quarter of 2014.



Together with its partners, Human Dynamics and the Deutscher Volkshochschulverband International (DVV International), the Internationaler Bund (IB) won the EuropeAid project "Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs" in Uzbekistan with a volume of EUR 1,995,000.

The overall objective of the project of which this contract is part of is: 'to contribute to the social inclusion in Uzbekistan'. The purpose of this contract is: 'to improve the quality of education for children with special needs aged 2–10 and promote their integration into the mainstream kindergartens and primary schools in Uzbekistan'. The expected results are the following:

A long-term strategy, including legal and financial frameworks of the Government to ensure equal and inclusive approaches for children with special needs is formulated. Pre-service and in-service teacher training and non-teacher staff training modules on inclusive education are updated and integrated in curricula and training programmes. Public awareness is raised in the country to promote the integration of children and people with special needs, both at social and educational levels.
