EVBB Invites to European Online Conference: Vocational Education in the Post-COVID Era

Combating the shortage of skilled workers, giving people prospects for the future

The EVBB is preparing for the time after the acute threat of the Corona virus: After the regular general meeting on Dec. 1, 2021, the association invites for Dec. 2, 2021, an online conference.

The theme of the conference is "Vocational Education and Training in the Post-COVID Era - Challenges and Opportunities." Precisely because the signs in the European economy point to growth, the shortage of skilled workers is worsening in many countries. Young people are still frequently opting for studies instead of vocational training. Added to this is the transformation toward greater digitization and sustainability, which demands new skills and is pushing back old job profiles.

The EVBB would like to discuss with its members and guests, who are very welcome to register, at the conference how this situation can possibly be mastered. Approaches are, for example, lifelong learning to give people new perspectives again and again, as well as an image change of vocational training. These and other topics will be discussed in presentations and discussions over the coming week. The event on December 2 is also open to the public online.

The Internationaler Bund (IB) is itself one of the major independent providers of education and training in Europe. Thiemo Fojkar, Chairman of the IB as well as President of the EVBB, will address the participants at the opening.

"The challenges for the European economy will not become less with the hopefully soon approaching end of the acute pandemic. On the contrary, the shortage of skilled workers is affecting more countries and sectors. It must be countered in a sustainable manner. That's why these topics are on the online agenda," says Thiemo Fojkar.
