Background

“Fit for the future” is a project financed by the European Union as part of the Europe Aid Programme.

The percentage of young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs) is almost double the EU average – accounting for around 30% of the youth population aged 15 – 29. Roma women, especially, are at high risk of becoming NEET. Therefore the project focused on the district of Topaana in the municipality of Čair since this area has a very high density of Roma population with special structural needs.

Objective

This project is aimed at the facilitation, integration and inclusion of young Roma people who are not in education, employment or training into the labour market. It is also aimed at strengthening the capacities of professionals working with young disadvantaged people.

Type of Services Provided

  • Preparation of preschools-group adjusting to school.
  • Raising the awareness about the importance of education for children and parents.
  • Organizing workshops for the development of the awareness among youth about sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Children.
  • Professional, social and pedagogical advice on protection, care and proper upbringing of children by parents.
