Thiemo Fojkar Elected Vice President of EVTA

Key European Education Associations Agree on Closer Cooperation

On June 16th 2017 Thiemo Fojkar was unanimously elected vice president of the European Vocational Training Association (EVTA) by its members. Together with EVTA’s president, Christophe Donon (member of the management of the French Association for Adult Education – AFPA) Mr.Fojkar will take an active hand in shaping the associations’ politics. Mr. Fojkar also serves as president of the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB). With joint positions and demands these two leading associations can have a significant impact.
EVTA and EVBB are represented in the Directorate General for Education and Culture as well as the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in various working groups. They work in close cooperation with the European Center for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) to meet the challenges the refugee crisis presents for education providers, to name but one field of work. EVBT and AFPA will be representing the interests of its members through working groups during the discussions about developments beyond 2020.
Speaking with a unified voice on matters of European politics, these two European education and training networks will be able to establish themselves firmly and be a credible and robust representation for the education providers’ interests. Both associations will appear together at important future events. Already in the planning stages are joint appearances at the Conference for Education in Malta in October and at the European Vocational Skills Week in November.
Closer co-operation with trade and industry under the header of “Industry 4.0” (The Fourth Industrial Revolution - a German government initiative to promote the digitization of manufacturing processes), the development of unified demands for socio-political measures and a quality assurance initiative aimed at strengthening education providers – these are the tasks which Thiemo Fojkar and Christophe Donon will tackle together in the future.
